What is it about a fire?
Of the heat, the glow I’ll never tire
The darting flames dancing
Like a wild horse prancing
You look, think, mesmerized
Somehow your brain energized
Dead thoughts tumbling
Big logs crumbling
Embers glisten like the lights of a vast city
Calming soothing & oh so pretty!
It can take you far away
& if you look long enough, your mind will stray
When finally the fire is exhausted & dead
When all has been said
We wander off into the distance
at the cold closing night’s insistence
